About us

Meet Judith Yates, the heart and soul behind our dog grooming haven! 🐾 With a deep-rooted passion for animals, Judith is not only the proud owner-operator but also a skilled and dedicated groomer. She learned the art of grooming at Angel's Grooming Academy from the absolute best. 

Judith's love for animals goes beyond the grooming table – she spent four years in an animal welfare role at the RSPCA in England, fostering a genuine affection for dogs and a commitment to their well-being. Her exceptional animal handling skills ensure that every furry client feels comfortable and cared for during their grooming sessions.

In addition to her notable achievements, Judith holds a certificate in Veterinary Nursing, bringing a level of expertise that goes beyond grooming aesthetics. She also served as a Kennel/Cattery Manager for three years, showcasing her organisational skills in maintaining a safe and happy environment for animals.

But Judith's journey doesn't stop there – she's invested time in learning about canine behaviour by completing two dog training courses under the guidance of Mark Vette, a renowned dog behaviorist. With this comprehensive background, Judith is not just a groomer; she's a true friend to your furry companions, providing top-notch care, expertise, and a whole lot of love. ♡

Luxurious Full Groom

A thorough cleansing and soothing massage in the bath with 2 shampoos and a conditioner, followed by:

While we do not focus on show grooms or breed specific trims, we are committed to ensuring every dog leaves our salon looking and feeling their absolute best.

Please note I do not offer anal gland expression or ear plucking as I believe this should be done by your veterinarian.

Mini Groom

Bath, Dry and Tidy

Perfect option for in-between grooms,   (note your dog must have had a full professional groom within 6 weeks for this option)

Bath, Dry and Nails

This is suitable for your smooth haired dogs needing a bath and dry to get them squeaky clean and smelling fresh.

Deshedding

Best for dogs with thick, double coats who are shedding and need their undercoat removed. 


Puppy Pamper Groom

At Dirty Dogs, we understand how puppy socialisation is vital and fear periods are a real thing! Therefore we want to make the grooming process as comfortable as possible and set them up for the their future grooming visits from day one. 

We accept pups from 16 weeks of age or 2 weeks after their second vaccinations (whichever comes first) up to 6 months old.

Please note all the above will be completed only if the puppy is happy to continue. We can trim puppy hair on request.

Dirty Dogs can advise you in how to prepare your puppy for future visits and what you can do at home to help them.

Nails

Nail trimming and filing to ensure comfort and prevent overgrowth and injury to nails and paw pads. 


Hand Stripping

Unfortunately Dirty Dogs does not offer hand stripping at the present time.

We are fortunate not to have the right environment for fleas to live in Otago, however if your dog has fleas Dirty Dogs can refuse the right to accept them for a groom and fumigation costs may incur.

Pricing

Full Groom: Prices starting from $95 

Mini-Groom (Bath, Dry and Tidy) *within 6 weeks of professional groom* Prices starting from $80

Bath, Dry and Brush out (smooth coat only): Prices starting from $60

De-shedding: Prices starting from $95 for medium coats and from $100 for long coats


Puppy Grooms: Same as adult pricing due to the time taken to make it as enjoyable for them as possible and not a rushed experience.


Extras

Nails: from $15

Bath with towel dry (suitable for smooth haired dogs only): $30

If you have specialised/medicated shampoos which your dog has been prescribed from the vet we can ensure the correct "leave in time" has been reached. Additional costs incur for this service.

Matted coats will incur extra charges due to the heavy work load, time incurred and strain on equipment.

IMPORTANT: We can only groom dogs up to 25kg maximum.
